Meet the artist
Ava Belisle is an enrolled St. Croix and Oneida community member and beadwork artist whose work blends traditional Ojibwe florals with modern shapes and design elements.
She graduated from UW–Madison with a BBA in Marketing and also enjoys graphic design and creating digital art pieces. Having attended powwows her entire life, Ava draws inspiration from the colors, movement, and stories found along the powwow trail. While she primarily focuses on flat beadwork, she also creates raised pieces that reflect her Unkwehuwe (Oneida) upbringing.
Her art honors tradition while exploring new ways to express contemporary Native identity.
